The UK is “lagging behind” on Cancer Care

The UK appears to now be spending roughly the same as other European countries on cancer care - but the efforts have to be not just about putting money in but getting efficiency from it.

Access to diagnostic tests, drugs and radiotherapy appear to be the bottle neck, and making them work more efficiently is difficult.

For example, using radiotherapy machines at weekends and evenings when they are under-utilised.

We don’t actually need more expensive equipment, just to use them better and pay the staff to use them!
